: Interstate Releases

Every year AFL Footy cards are released regionally within and outside of the state of Victoria.

The distribution with some of these sets varies slightly depending on the state and whether it is a general release and available to the public.

Recently, in the past few years, Select Australia, have produced cards for the interstate Herald and Weekly Times regions including (Victoria) Herald Sun, (Western Australia) WA Sunday Times, (South Australia) Adelaide Advertiser and (Tasmania) Hobart Mercury. In most cases, these were available from the newsagent or sub-news in the area with a coupon/token obtained from that day's paper.

The numbering system on the cards, inserts even player selection did vary such as with the 2005 and 2006 WA Sunday Times and SA Adelaide Advertiser. Even more interesting was the exclusive stand alone set of the 2003 Adelaide Advertiser.

They are an interesting addition to player and team collections because they feature different photos and different information to the other mainstream cards released by Select and Teamcoach. Sometimes they feature the earliest card of new player to a club. It is not uncommon within 12 months of the original release that it can sometimes be difficult to locate specific inserts and team sets.
